This article was the result of a study about the relation between industrialization and social change in a small town in East Jawa, Gersik. Since the establishment of cement industry at Gersik, eventually this town developed and became a city of industry. The development from non-industrial to industrial city had brought about many impacts to the community of the city. The community transformed to industrial community that had different characteristics from the agrarian community. The other impacts of industrialization were the extension of the city and the emergence of a new middle class.
