At present, there is a strong halal production base in place with good industrial and commercial infrastructure, as well as strong inter and intralinkages between multinational corporations. Impact in advance of technology has introduced biotechnology process in food manufacturing . Biotechnology concerns the creation of new varieties of plants, new animal breeds and new microorganisms either by traditional selection method or by new method of genetic engineering. Halal does not only concerns on the end product that must be free from illegitimate substances, but the whole process involved, must comply the with the shariah rites.This paper will discuss as to what extend the International Trade Law, specifically agreement under WTO contribute into assuring Malaysia becoming a Halal-hub centre of biotechnology industries. |
