Both Canada and Indonesia obtain significant revenue from their energy resources. Currently, the Indonesian petroleum industry is facing the challenge of attracting foreign investment. Legal uncertainty and security conditions discourage the investment climate. Tax incentives may, or may not, help the country in attracting foreign investors. This paper proposes that Indonesia may be able to learn from Canada’s experience in how they attained foreign investor for the oil sands project. This paper reflects the possibility for Indonesia to apply Canada’s strategy to attract foreign investment. |
