Abstract
This paper discusses the digital divide from the perspective of Latin America and the Caribbean. Highlights include: new issues that make access to electronic resources difficult for users; differences in technological infrastructure among countries; how Internet users are distributed worldwide; Internet access in Africa; the number of students per computers and number of schools with Internet access in 50 U.S. states; percentage of U.S. citizens using the Internet by race; reasons why people quit using the Internet; the online racial divide in the United States; and the digital divide in Mexico, including statistics on computer use.
