Abstract
The Chinese emigrants to Java in the early part of the 18th century brought Confucian teachings which they regarded as their religion. In Indonesia, Confucianism has continued to grow in the Chinese community up to this time. The strong cultural influence from Confucian values became a framework for providing them with guidance in their behavior and a foundation for their business ideology. The subsequent paragraphs attempt to provide a picture of how Confucian followers in Indonesia interpret the values of Confucian teachings in contracts and dispute settlements in their business practices whereby the ideal and theoretical values of Confucian teachings are being applied in the real world.
