Isi artikel
Mr. Strong is one of the few international spokesmen conversant with the sosioeconomic evil of poverty who has known personal hardship. At 13 he ran away from his Depression-stricken hone in Manitoba, Canada, to stow away on a Great Lakes steamer. Not long after, his travels took him to the Arctic where he lived among the Eskimos and collected rock samples that launched him, self-taught, on a spectacular business career: at 35 he was named president of the Power Corporation of Canada. In 1975, he was chosen to organize Canada's new national petroleum company, PePetro-Canada, which he now heads. In adding his influential support, as he does here, to the quest for a more rational global economic order, Mr. Strong warns that mankind may already be jeopardizing the conditions which make this planet "hospitable for human life."
