Isi artikelThe costs of coping with exchange rate risk associated with increased currency volatility probably reduced the volume of U.S. trade modestly over the last decade, according to an analysis carried out by the author. An assistant professor of economics at the University of Colorado, Keith E. Maskus is currently a visiting economist with the planning and economic analysis staff of the U.S. Department of State. He is the author of numerous articles on international economics and policy and of The Changing Structure of Comparative Advantage in American Manufacturing. This article was prepared while Dr. Maskus was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, which originally published the article. The views expressed are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City or the Federal Reserve System.
