Isi artikel
Although many new technologies for automating the factory have been implemented recently, the key to manufacturing, say the authors, is taking into account the "human factor"-that is, developing machines that people can work with effectively and identifying the oints where human responsiveness and creativity can make the greatest contribution. Marjory Blumenthal was the director and Jim Dray a technology analyst for a recent U.S. Office of Technology Assessment (OTA) study of computerized manufacturing automation on which this article is based. Ms. Blumenthal is currently a market opportunities manager with the General Electric Infomation Services Company. Mr. Dray is a research analyst with OTA.
