Marjory Blumenthal was the director and Jim Dray a technology analyst for a recent U.S. Office of Technology Assessment (OTA) study of computerized manufacturing automation on which this article is based. Ms. Blumenthal is currently a market opportunities manager with the General Electric Infomation Services Company. Mr. Dray is a research analyst with OTA.
