Isi artikel
Major technological improvements in energy-using devices and an increase focus on the services provided by energy rather than on fuels has put the United States on a new energy path, say the authors. In their view, "for the first time in 15 years, there is reason to be optimistic about America's energy future." Roger W. Sant, Dennis W. Bakke, and Roger F. Naill are associated with Applied Energy Services, Inc., Mr. Sant as chairman and president, Mr. Bakke as executive vice-president and chief operating officer, and Mr. Naill as vice-president for energy planning services. The top U.S. Government offical for energy conservation in the Ford Administration, Mr. Sant was previously director of research for the Mellon Institute's Energy Productivity Center. Mr. Bakke, who was deputy director of the Energy Producitivity Center, is a former Deputy Assistant Aministrator for Energy Conservation and Environment with the U.S. Federal Energy Administration. Mr. Naill previously served with the U.S. Department of Energy. This article is an abridgement of the first two chapters of their recent book, Creating Abundance: America's Least-cost Energy Strategy.
