Isi artikel
Examining five fequently heard arguments against the floating exchange rate system, the author argues that a return to a workable system of limited exchange rate flexibility would require, first, that economic policies of all major nations be coordinated and, second, that monetary authorities give up much of their independence. An assistant professor of economics at Case Western Reserve University, Nicholas V. Karamouzis is currently a visiting scholar in the research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. He is the author of a number of articles on domestic monetary and international economic issues. The views stated here are those of the atuhor and not necessarily those of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland or of the Borard of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
