Isi artikel
Despite sometimes vocal opposition, developing countries stand to benefit from freer trade in services because such trade will allow them to obtain information and technology to make their economies more efficient, says the author. At the same time, because of the increasingly disembodied nature of services, these countries will be able to provide the same kills in foreign markets as the developed countries, but at a lower cost. An economist, A.F. Ewing was senior director with the United Nations Secretariat, for which he served in Europe, Africa, and Asia. He has published three books and numerous articles on trade and development cooperation. This article was originally published under the title "Why Freer Trade in Services is in the Interest of Developing Countries."
