Isi artikel
Partly as a result of technological advances that permit the rapid transfer of money and information worldwide, existing laws governing the functioning of U.S. banks and financial institutions are being reinterpreted by regulators, legislators and the courts. The author discusses why and how the structure of the U.S. banking industry is changing and the courses that might be followed in dealing with these changes. Karen N. Horn recently became chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Bank One, in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Horn was treasurer of the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania, vice-president and economist with the First National Bank of Boston. This article was originally titled "The Changing Nature of Our Financial Structure: Where Are We Headed? Where Do We Want to Go?"
