Isi artikel
The most recent Nobel prizewinner in economics explains why public choice theory-in emphasizing that "persons in politics are like persons elsewhere, including the market," in that they pursue their own private and individualized interests-may help to persuade "collectivists" to change their views about the importance of the role of the state. A pioneer in public choice theory, James M. Buchanan is a professor and general director of the Center for Study of Pblic Choice at George Mason University. He was awarded the NObel Prize in economic science in 1986. This commentary is based on a section in one of dr. Buchanan's recent books, Liberty, Market, and tate: Political Economy in 1980s, and in a special section features Dr. Buchanan's responses to questions posed by Economic Impact.
