While they see no cause for alarm, they recommend that a more comprehensive research program to be undertaken to minimize possible future problems. Sandra S. Batie is associate professor of agricultural economics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where she has been a member of the faculty since 1973. Robert G. Healy has been an economist with The Conservation Foundation-a Washington D.C., environmental research organization-since 1975.
