Even in the industrialized world, he believes greater emphasis on development of solar energy technologies would contribute more to higher levels of employment than would construction of giant capital-intensive power stations. A specialist in technology-oriented issues, Colin Norman is a senior researcher with Worldwatch Institute, an independent non profit research organization created to analyze and focus attention on global problems. He was Washington correpondent for Nature, a well-known British science magazine from 1971 until 1977 and has written extensively on science, technology and public policy.
