Economic logic points to a continuing U.S. domestic and worldwide nuclear-energy role, albeit with increased safeguards, Professor Schelling concludes after careful analysis of the many factors that have generated conflicting emotions and policy recommendations concerning the expanding use of nuclear enegy to meey the needs of the growing world economy. The author is on the faculty of the John F. Kennedy School of Gvernment at Harvard University and recently directed a Committee for Economic Development policy study on nuclear energy and national secutity, whose findings are reflected, in part, in this article. They do not necessarily reflect present official views.
