Isi artikel
Economist have done well in alleviating the toll of unemployment but have much to learn about an inflationary tide that has become the world's main economic menace, writes C. Fred Bergsten, a widely known and respected U.S. writer and speaker on economic affairs although still only in his early 30s. Dr. Bergsten joined the U.S. Department of State in 1963 and won its Meritorious Honor Award two years later. He served as Assistant for International Economic Affairs to then Presidential Adviser Henry Kissinger, 1969-1971, and Brookings Institution research center in Washington D.C. Dr. Bergsten farsighted assessments of changing global economic relationships, outlined in this edited version of an early 1974 speech to U.S. businessmen, also touch on implications of power realignments between developed and developing nations and on what he considers a loss of momentum for European unity.
