Isi artikelThe export of the Indonesian footwear commodities (shoes, slippers and the like) has developed quite rapidly in the last few years, i.e. from 45,429 thousand pairs in the value of US$ 220.4 million in 1989 to 205,274.9 thousand pairs in the value of US$ 1,323.6 million in 1992. While in 1993 up to November figure, their export value already reached US$ 1,507.3 million. This has placed the foreign exchange revenues from the footwear commodity export in an increasngly important position among the other non-oil products, so that it occupies the third place after textile/garments and processed wood. Said export development has also enhanced Indonesia's role in the footwear product trade on the international market. When in 1989 the Indonesian market segment was just as much as 1.26%, in 1992 its role escalated to 4.7%.
