English language is known as an international language, that is why it is very important to introduce English to children in their early age. Children learn foreign language faster because age is a major variable in learning a foreign language. Rivers (1981, p. 445) in her book Teaching Foreign Language skills stated that the best age for learning a foreign language is between four to ten years old. She argues that at this age, the brain plasticity is still flexible and children can catch any information easily. For children, learning English is not easy, because they are facing a new language and have to adjust with it and like it. This is confirmed by Huebener (1959, p. 4), who said that “the learner will be more eager to learn if he or she likes what he or she does, and if he or she has pleasurable sensation in doing it”. |
