It is this group which later came to be called the EC Working Party on AIDS research (Annex 1: list of members). A coherent programme proposal of concerted action and cooperation between major national research centres was enthusiastically formulated; it was unanimously adopted by the CGC on Medical and Health Research at the beginning of 1984 and submitted to the decision-making bodies.
