The first section of this paper will discuss the disadvantages of developing countries, which make them in a weak position in disputes. Some characteristics of the WTO dispute settlement mechanism which are problematic for developing countries will also be discussed. The next section of this paper will discuss how the WTO dispute settlement mechanism works to resolve disputes among the WTO members. Furthermore, this paper will present cases where developing countries have faced developed countries in proceedings, in which the decisions achieved have not benefited developing countries. Finally, this paper will give some recommendations to prevent developing countries’ lack of resources becoming obstacles in pursuing claims towards developed countries |
