The Christian presence among those who suffer has appeared in different forms according to the epoch. Today, Catholic clinics and hospitals - one of the numerous forms of Christian presence among sufferers - represent the permanent support of the whole Church for such service. They have an exemplary value and must serve as a reference point for the entire society regarding the moral values and Christian behavior the Church embodies in this field.
