Abstract
Criminal law is a collection of law regulating the power of the state to impose punishment on person in order to enforce compliance with certain rules. Can therefore death penalty or corporal punishments be imposed by a state because they are required by a religious criminal law but, at the same time, they are in conflict with the state’s obligation to comply with international human rights instrument?
