Despite the many challenges, the mood in Berlin, Germany at the Society of Plastics Engineers' recent thermoforming conference was upbeat. Parts entered in the event's competition may indicate the reason why: thermoforming continues to penetrate new markets as, slowly but surely, more design engineers grow to understand the process's potential. A number of the winning entries were for thermoformed packing with folds, including the winner in the 'electronics' category, a folding blister pack formed by Jacob Kunststofftechnick (Wilhelmsdorf, Germany), a frequent winner in the competition.
