Instead, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates was critized by the government then in power in India for "spreading panic" and "completely inaccurate data" after he quoted much-cited predictions by the U.S.s' CEntral Intellingence Agency that the number of Indians infected with HIV and AIDS would top 20 million to 25 million by 2010. That trajectory would double today' global HIV/ AIDS population and shift the epidemic's center from Africa to India.
