Isi artikelThe processing of wastewater treatment organically in an anaerobic process will produce biogas, a mixture that consist of two dominant gases; methane gas (CH4) and carbon dioxide gas (CO2) and some other gases. Methane gas that contained in biogas could burn. Because of that, biogas could utilize as energy. Moreover, methane is also including in the category of gas cause of the greenhouse effect. In 1983, researchers tried to look for alternative energies to replace petroleum. Biogas was one of the renewable energy sources that many sectors is interested in it. One of the simplest uses of biogas was cooking, whereas in the process of anaerobic fermentation that the percentage of methane in biogas reached above 75 % biogas could be used as the fuel to the motor engine. In this investigation, the biogas potential that was produced from a Fixed Bed Reactor processing system of the slaughterhouse wastewater will be studied with reactor volume of 600 m3, waste water debit of 300 m3 in pollution load of 3000 ppm Cod. Investigation was carried out the quality and the quantity biogas in different hydraulic retention time (HRT). Result of Observation showed showed that electricity energy that was produced was enough to fulfill the requirement for electricity of processing operation of the wastewater treatment plant of the slaughterhouse with anaerobic fermentation technology through the up-flow system of fixed bed reactor.
