Isi artikel
Interdisciplinary undertakings must navigate a dangerous passage. They hold out the promise of rich, insightful discussions nurtured by each of the different disciplines. The risk, however, is that rather than achieving these potential riches interdisciplinary discussion will be left adrift in superficiality. Of course this danger is not unique to interdisciplary undertakings since it is possible within any discipline. Yet, when many intellectual perspectives are involved there is the danger that, while seeking a common language, the discussion will be held at the lowest common denominator. At the same time there is also the danger is that each of the disciplines involved in the enterprise will cast themselves as the discipline and relegate all others to a secondary roles.
