Isi artikelThis paper argues that nonanthropocentric environmental ethics has to take into account the intrinsic interest given to nonhuman entities when talking about the topic. The view that all scientist beings are moral patients, demands that consideration of animals should be included in the ethical decision making process, because of their potential for feeling pain and suffering. Egalitarianism in environmental ethics underlines the rights and interests of animals to stay alive and to live well. The problem is that the rights and interests of animals are often in conflict with the rights and interests of human beings. Moderate egalitarianism is egalitarianism which acknowledges the rights and interests of animals, but does not ignore the psychological needs of human beings.
