Schools, in their deep structures and patterns of relationship, have changed less in the last 20 years than young people have changed and I would argue that school improvement is about constructing a better match between schools and young people. It is not just about enhancing students’ performance in tests and examinations but is about changing schools - their organisational structures and patterns of relationships.
