In this paper the writer brings forward the notion of 'mimesis' 'imitation' as developed by ricoeur on the basis of Aristotle's poetics. For Ricoeur, mimesis widely affects human life in all its aspects. It is through mimetic processes that conscience, the most personal feature in human life, is formed. The question to arise is how philosophy could explain existential experiences of human beings, especially could explain existential experiences of human beings, especially self-identity and moral responsibility. It is the answer to this question that the present paper attempts to address.
