Imagine you’re a town councillor faced with this problem: kids are skateboarding on pavements all over, town terrorising pedestrians - inadvertently and otherwise - and being a general nuisance. With few facilities in the town for young people, there,’s precious little else to do. So what do you do? When this scenario presented itself at Brightlingsea, Essex a couple of years ago, it was clear to a councillor what needed to be done. So he marched up to the local comprehensive - not to give the teenagers a talking to - but to ask for their help in looking at the feasibility of building a skateboard park.
