Isi artikel
The essays in this issue of the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy combine practical with philosophical issues in a look at the question what role, if any, a philosophical bioethicist might appropriately play in the adversarial world of litigation. I encouraged three of these authors — Fletcher, Kipnis, and Yarborough — to engage in what I call “reflective story telling.” I suggested that they recount the experiences, questions, and doubts they had encountered while participating as expert witnesses in legal proceedings; explore whatever challenges of intellectual and personal integrity they faced during their participation; and then reflect more broadly about whether and under what conditions bioethicists ightbelonginsucharole.
