Many of economic indicators, such as : economic growth, employment rate, productivity growth, labor education, was increased and the portion of open unemployment, underemployment, and unpaid family worker was decreased. After the year of 1997, the crisis begun, make the economy worst and sustainable recession until now. Many of the indicators have been changed, especially in labor force, such as : open unemployment, underemployment, and labors displacement. The effects of indonesian crisis 1997 are : 1. there is a placed formal sector workers from sector which has a negative labor growth, such as : 1. manufacturing industry 2. electricity gas and water 3. mining, move to the sector which has a positive labor growth , such as : 1. financing, insurance, real estate and business services 2. transportation 3. trade and hotel 4. agriculture. This positive labor growth sector have different labor absorption, such as : agriculture and trade and hotel has bigger than other sector. Even the negative sector such as : manufacturing industry, and public services, but they have huge labor absorption 2. There is a positive labor growth sector in urban area such as : manufacturing industry, construction, trade, transportation and financing, and negative labor growth for all the sectors in rural area, except agriculture - it is the most indonesian labor absorption sector. 3. the portion of formal employment was decreased and informal employment was increased because during the crisis some of the modern sector was collapsed.
