Isi artikel
More than two decades ago fred Berger noted the scant attention philosophers had shown the concepr of gratitude. It has received more attention since then, but even those who analyze gratitude do not consider it an important concept in ethics. Terrance McConnell, who devoted a whole book to the subject, described gratitude as "on the edge" and only having a "peripheral nature" to moral theory. If we agreed with McConnell, we might wonder why we should look at gratitude at all, but he contends that we can learn much from an investigation into one of morality's side issues.
