In the period of transition demographics facing double burden of disease as well as infectious disease and non infectious disease. The prevalence of type 2 Diabetes is approximately 4.7%, and expose people age of 40 year above with serious complications. Several researches were conducted and found caffein increased the insulin sensitivity and pancreatic beta cell functions and on the other hand coffee consumption was a routine daily intake of the community. The objectived of the research was to find out the association between coffee consumption and the risk of type 2 diabetes. Method: the design of the research was case control study with type 2 diabetes as cases group and non diabetic type 2 as control group with matching of the aged group. Number of sample are 482 cases group was collected from the health centre and hospital of the whole Palembang Municipality and the control group was collected from the community through the house hold association.
