It is still a problem how to prevent and manage White Spot Baculovirus Infection. The general purpose of this research is to study the characters of the envelope protein VP28 of WSBV local isolates. The envelope protein VP28 has potential to be an immunostimulant against WSBV infection in shrimps in Indonesia especially East Java. The steps of research were : the collection of WSBV local isolates infected shrimps in Sidoarjo, Gresik and Surabaya; Tissue were taken from the shrimps which infected by WSBV were used to produced WSBV inoculum and the biologic tests of envelope protein VP28 of WSBV local isolate in shrimps that included determining the survival rate, the activity of phenoloxidase enzyme and the total haemocyte count. Based on the biologic tests of envelope protein VP28 in shrimps, the envelope protein VP28 of WSBV local isolate has potential to be used an immunostimulant against WSBV infection.
