Isi artikel
In Suntory Museum of Art in Tokyo there is folding screen known as Birds in Autumn and Winter, a painting of the Muromachi period (1333-1568) executed in thick pigments on a gold background. Dating from the sixteenth century, it was originally a single screen with eight panels, although it now takes the form of two four-panel screens. The right-hand portion of the composition consists of a pine early autumn, surrounded by a profusion of typical autumn flowers, such as hagi (bush clover), kikyo (Chinese bellflower), and ominaeshi (Patrinia scabiosaefolia).
