Isi artikel
Ties between Japan and Chin today are hauted by a specter called the Nanjing Atrocity. This 1937 event is also known as the Nanking, and the (Great) Nanjing Massacre. In the past I have written on the subject of these atrocities, evaluating the research that has been carried out in English, Chinese, and Japanese. Some of conclusions of my investigation are as follows. In China it is extraordinarily difficult to carry out an objective scholarly discussions of the events of Nanjing. In Japan, meanwhile, historians are bogged down in aseries of fruitless arguments between the members of the "illusion" school, who believe the atrocities were fabricated, and those belonging to the " great massacre" school, who argue that a great number of killings did take place.
