Abstract
To develop a product, we need a method to make the development well known. In this research, the writer used Quality Function Method (QFD), a method whish is used to know about consumer needs from a product and that needs supposed to be integrated on specifications of developed product. The result is to make the product sold out at the market.There are several methods in Quality Function Development (QFD), first of all we need to identify consumer needs by collecting data using questioner and we also need to test all the data that we collect by using Statistic Analysis ( Reliability and Validity test ). After we know about consumer needs, we have to integrate those needs on specifications of developed product by using House of Quality, Part Deployment, and Process Deployment.
From this research, especially by using House Of Quality the writer found out an output about what consumer needs from a trolley that they still don’t get until now. Those needs focused on safety, practicality, usage power, product enduring, and durability of rust. Those needs based on retail product segmentation. In this research, those needs are fulfill by developing trolley’s wheels which can be moved horizontally > 360 degrees and also adding lock function at the wheels; using EB 2510 material and Chromium decorative coating material on handle and wheels; and handle fold design by using hand. To get that kind of trolley, we need some component characteristic target and specific process characteristic target. Both of characteristic targets obtained from processing result by using Part Deployment method and also Process Deployment. Which at Part Deployment method is focused on component characteristic target such EB 2510 and coating component characteristic target such chromium decorative. Otherwise by using Process Deployment method we can get output as process characteristic target such heat-treatment timing and preheat treatment timing. Development of trolley that has been done, hopeful can fulfill consumer needs on trolley which not feel by consumer. Beside that, if seen from economic analysis that has been done, we can obtained the value HPP is equal to Rp.643.906,- and BEP can be reachable by producing 5400 unit. With assumption there are 2% of handicap produce, HPP value is turn into Rp.657.046,- and BEP reached at 7375 unit.
