Isi artikelIn an effort to liberate blacks from the burden of racial oppression, black leaders have frequently called on black Americans to become a more unified collective agent for social change. And while there are some who think syuch solidarity irrational, impractical, or perhaps even morally objectionable, I take it many people (both black and non black) believe it so to be essential for black people to achieve the full freedom and social equality that American ideals promise. However, even among those who agree that black solidarity isimportant for bringing about racial justice, there is subtansial disagreement over the pricise meaning of this solidaristic commitment.
