In a fixed order quantity system (Q R model), (he inventory position of an item is perpetually reviewed, and when it equals or breaks the predetermined reorder point, afixed quantity is ordered. In order to operate the fixed order quantity system, two control parameters must be determined: the order quantity Q and the reorder point R. Most inventory models assume that lead time is Jb:ed, and calculate the optimal level of safety stock on the basis of this assumption. Actually. the manufacturing lead time is afunction of lot size in many manufacturing environments and it relates with lot size requirements. In lost sales case, the customers demand could not be met from stock and the customer is going to another supplier. This paper present an iterative algorithm that determines lot size and safety stock simultaneously and an example is provided to clarifi’ the iteration procedure.
