In the United State, the Counselling and Guidance at the university is the counselling service and training facility for the students has developed since 1930. This service of counselling and guidance especially at the higher education institution developed since that time. The service of counselling and guidance can help the student that have problems of a magnitude that prevents them from meeting daily academic responsibilities. Here in Indonesia, the counselling and guidance at the university is not as popular as in United States. However, some of the universities have the service in counselling and guidance, assists their students to achieve their maximum potential by developing self-awareness, self-realization and achievement, making satisfactory adjustment in the university, reaching responsible decisions in personal, academic or social areas and finding solutions to their problems. The counselling and guidance also assists students with a variety of educational, career, and personal problems. Counselling is providing expert, specialized to a client. It stresses the facilitation of human development, rational thinking and planning, problem solving, decision-making, and stress management in practical situations. Counselling generally focuses on helping individuals with problems and concerns arising from everyday life. For that reason, as a counselor at the university, they have to have special characteristics of personality such as honesty, responsible, warmth, positive attitude, etc.
