Policy of economic development of the New Order, which depended on only several conglomerates, has practically destroyed the Indonesian economy. The objective of the study was to analyze the phenomenon and prospects of small medium enterprises (SME) as the basis of people's economy. The method of analysis used qualitative methodology. This new paradigm will strengthened peoples economy as an alternative to strengthened the national economy. The study showed that SMEs may develop through entrepreneurship by improving skills in managing enterprises, self motivation and information access to market shares in the region.
