Verb is one of the important elements in making a sentence. Verb is divided into two classes, ordinary and auxiliary verb. A verb changes because of tenses and subjects. The verb usually functions as ordinary or auxiliary. They are verbs of to be, to have and to do. To be as auxiliary verb usually forms active in tenses of continuous and in passive all tenses. To be followed verb to infinitive expresses future activity, direct and indirect command, while to be as ordinary verb relates subject and its complement. To have as auxiliary forms tenses of perfect active and passive. To have followed by object and verb infinitive, present participle and past participle can mean experience and cause somebody to do something, or something to be done. To have as ordinary verb can be used to express possession, characteristic, activities of eating, drinking, talking, etc. To do as auxiliary verb forms negative and interrogative sentences in tenses of simple present and simple past. And in affrimative sentence to do is used to give stress. To do is also used to avoid repetition, in additions, question tag. While to do as ordinary verb express work or job, greeting, adrquate, and certain expression, such as do good, do harm, do shopping, etc.
