The paper presents a model of participatory leadership, that suggests a willingness of a leader, on the one hand, to let his or her members to take part on his or her tasks as a leader, on the other hand, to involve himself or herself fully in the life of his members. On this way, this kind of leadership, of course, is far from authoritarian attitudes to his or her members. Leadership model presented as an object of research, comes from the model of leadership in the Catholic Church, called "primus inter pares" 'the primacy among the equals.' The article, therefore, starts with exploring the historical background of the leadership in the Catholic Church, and ends with concluding the principles of participatory leadership.
