News is the only reason of mass media activities. In the modern environment as we live now, news is considered as one of the important source of references for the audience's knowledge. It is something that has to be found in the newspapers, television or other type of mass media to provide tha audience with actual information, education values as well as entertainment. However, news is the result of the very specific production system. It needs facts, sources and specific instruments to be proceeded. Specifically, it is the newsmaker's interpretation from the news materials. It also has to be considered to reach audience's attention as well as effectively to inform, educate and entertain the public. Shortly, news is by newsmaker for the audience according to certain interests, perspectives and instruments. Therefore, it can be said that, news is hardly represent the realities properly because it is not itself the reality an sich (to support the basis for audience's knowledge). Focusing on television news, this essay provides a review analysis about news, specifically regarding with its making, which could be an alternative thought in order to criticize television news, or in broader sense, mass media news.
