Abstract
Communication subsystems are crucial parts of distributed systems. Nodes in the system exchange information with each other through communication components. Hence, the reliability of distributed systems are heavily based on the communication subsystems they employed. This dissertation presents several works regarding this important subject. More specifically, this dissertation presents a protocol for weak virtual synchrony, a quorum-based self-stabilizing consensus protocol and a quorum-based self-stabilizing phase synchronization protocol. Furthermore, this dissertation also introduces a systematic methodology to develop self-stabilizing protocols within C-daemon model.
