Sitagliptin phosphate has so far shown to be a promising tool in the constant effort to improve glycaemic control in patients with type2 diabetes. This highly seletive agent, alone and in combination with other oral antidiabetics, helps in glucose regulation via a novel mechanism through its action on the incretin system. It has also been found to be ß cell protective.
