Abstract introdution : Stroke remains a major health care problem. Stroke is the leading cause of death and functional impairment. Hypertension is the major risk factor for cerebral infarction and haemorrhagic. the understanding of the clinical course of hypertension in acute stage of stroke is important. this study aimed to describe the profil of hypertension in acute phase of stroke. Method : The desk analysis was performed to secondary data from stroke unit. Further review was performed in 117 stroke patients. the data were analyzed descriptively. the data was presented in table and graphic. The statistical package was used for analyzing the data. Result : The data was obtained from stroke unit, the sample of 117 patients, consist of 58.5% male and 41.5% female. The stroke pathology is ischemic in 66.7% cases and haemorrhagic in 33.3% cases. The mean age of the patients was 60.83 ± 18.4 mmHg and the mean diastolic blood pressure was 102.4 ± 12.8 mmHg. Conclusion : Hypertensive state is very common condition in acute stroke. The understanding of the clinical course will be very important. The comorbidities with other cardiovascular risk factor is also very common.
