Isi artikel
Two communication systems that widely use these days are based on circuit switched network and IP. These systems have different signaling and routing systems, and most important, different services. A mechanism called ENUM (Electronic NUMbering) is needed to converge the services. ENUM is a protocol for mapping standard telephone numbers to Internet identifiers. It converts a telephone number into a domain name and then uses the global domain name system (DNS) to retrieve records that associate the number with an identifier that works on the Internet (IP address, SIP identifier, or web site URL). ENUM was developed by the Network Working Group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). The protocol relies on the E.164 telephone numbering standard of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This paper intended to present the survey of the possibilities of deployment and functional characteristics needed to configure the infrastructure.
